Cool Winter

Cool Winter, also called True Winter, is the coolest of the winter seasons. The coloring is icy and clear: cool blue, grey or dark brown eyes, dark ash-brown or black hair and cool, porcelain to deep skin with a blue undertone. Contrast is high. Cool, clear, saturated colors make Cool Winters look striking; warm and earthy colors look muddy.

Frequently asked questions

What colors should a Cool Winter avoid?

Avoid warm and earthy colors: orange, mustard, camel, rust, olive and warm browns. Muted, dusty shades also look dull against clear coloring.

Can a Cool Winter wear black or white?

Yes — pure white and black are signature colors for a Cool Winter. Icy pastels paired with black are another great combination.

What hair colors suit a Cool Winter?

Cool dark brown, blue-black, ash brown and silver-grey. Avoid golden, copper and honey tones — they add warmth that clashes with cool skin.

What's the difference between Cool Winter and Cool Summer?

Both are cool. The difference is contrast and clarity: Cool Winter is sharp and high-contrast (royal blue, fuchsia, black and white), Cool Summer is softer and lower-contrast (slate, raspberry, rose). If black looks better on you than soft navy, you lean winter.

What metals and jewelry suit a Cool Winter?

Silver, platinum and white gold. High-polish finishes and cool stones like sapphire, diamond and amethyst suit Cool Winters.
