Soft Autumn

Soft Autumn is the gentlest of the autumn seasons. The coloring is warm but only slightly, and muted rather than clear: think hazel or soft green eyes, and hair in ash-blonde to mid-brown with a golden cast. Contrast between features is low to medium. Colors that are too bright, too dark or too icy overpower Soft Autumns; greyed, earthy colors make their skin look even and rested.

Frequently asked questions

What colors should a Soft Autumn avoid?

Avoid bright jewel tones, icy pastels and very dark shades. Black near the face is the most common mistake — swap it for dark olive or espresso. Neon and high-contrast prints also overpower soft coloring.

Can a Soft Autumn wear black or white?

Black is too harsh near the face: dark olive, espresso or charcoal-brown are better. Optic white is too stark — cream, oyster or oatmeal look much softer.

What hair colors suit a Soft Autumn?

Soft golden brown, honey blonde, mushroom brown and warm beige balayage. Avoid ashy platinum, jet black and very bright copper — they add contrast or intensity Soft Autumns don't have.

What's the difference between Soft Autumn and Soft Summer?

Both are muted and low-contrast. The difference is temperature. If cream flatters you more than cool grey, and olive more than lavender, you lean autumn.

What metals and jewelry suit a Soft Autumn?

Brushed gold, soft bronze and rose gold. Avoid high-polish silver.
